What rights do I need to upload, license or sell work through Songbay?
Before you upload, license or sell any song, lyric, recording or other material through Songbay, you must own all necessary rights in that material. If you own only a share, you must have the clear permission of every co-writer, co-owner or other rights holder before using the service.
Human-created songs and lyrics: You must own the copyright in the song or lyric you upload, or own an agreed share and have the clear permission of every other copyright owner. Where there is a recording, you must also hold the master-recording rights or have permission from the master owner.
You must not upload, license or sell another artist's songs or lyrics, cover versions, recordings, samples, performances, voices or other protected material unless you have all permissions and licences required to do so.
AI-assisted or AI-generated work: You may only upload, license or sell AI-assisted or AI-generated material where you hold the full commercial-use rights required for the material and for the Songbay selling option you choose. You must comply with the terms of the AI service used and must not use material where the provider restricts commercial use or where its terms are incompatible with your intended listing. You remain responsible for obtaining permission for any third-party lyrics, samples, recordings, voices, likenesses, prompts or other protected input included in the work.
If you are unsure whether you hold the necessary rights or permissions, please obtain advice before uploading. You must not use Songbay to offer material that you are not entitled to use, license or sell.
